Night Show tonight, demolition derby Saturday

SIDNEY -- High octane, relaying to the “bank” and horse-riding skills were only some of the entertainment this week at the Cheyenne County Fair.

Tonight’s Night Show features Brendan Walter and Hunter Hayes. The show is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

Saturday’s main event is the Rumble on the Rails demolition derby with Lawn Mower Races. The demolition derby starts at 7 p.m.

This is the second year Cheyenne County has hosted a Rubber Check Race. A Rubber Check Race is a relay race from horseback, sprint to an ATV driver, and 1 ½ laps later the ATV driver jumps into a wheelbarrow and is pushed across the track.

The relay is designed as a parody of a farmer/rancher racing his check to the bank and how the process changes over time.

The Rubber Check Race was also Military and First Responder Night. All military and first responders who attended in uniform or with credentials attended the event at no cost.

The week started with NBHA Barrel Racing July 19.

The Midway Carnival will be available 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. tonight and Saturday.
