Pillen appoints North Platte woman as district court judge for 11th Judicial District
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Gov. Jim Pillen has announced his next appointment of district court judge for the 11th Judicial District.
North Platte attorney Chawnta Durham was appointed by the governor Monday.
Durham fills the vacancy due to the resignation of Judge Matthew Neher.
Since 2023, Durham has owned and operated her own law firm that focuses on family, criminal and immigration law.
She previously worked at Lindemeier Law Office and was a deputy public defender and deputy county attorney in Lincoln County.
Durham is also the chairperson of the mental health board for the 11th Judicial District and organizes mock trial events within local schools.
She will serve the following counties in Greater and Western Nebraska: Arthur, Chase, Dawson, Dundy, Frontier, Furnas, Gosper, Hayes, Hitchcock, Hooker, Keith, Lincoln, Logan, McPherson, Perkins, Red Willow and Thomas.
