SIDNEY - Visibility quickly dropped to near zero miles in dense fog Friday morning in Kimball, Sidney, Brownson and Pine Bluffs.

The National Weather Service office in Cheyenne placed Cheyenne, Kimball and East Laramie Counties in a dense fog advisory until 10 a.m. Friday. The advisory included Interstate 80 between Pine Bluffs and Sidney.

The NWS said there were hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility. When dense fog is present, they advise to slow down, use your headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

A red flag warning remained in effect Friday for the Nebraska Panhandle, northeast Colorado and southeast Wyoming. The weather service strongly discourages outdoor burning, because of extreme critical fire weather conditions. They said any fires that developed would likely spread rapidly.

A high wind warning is also in place for southwest Nebraska and northeast Colorado on Friday. Strong winds and blowing dust will make traveling difficult in Logan, Sedgwick and Phillips Counties. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
