SCOTTSBLUFF -- The Sidney 8th Grade Boys won the 20th Annual Lions Club Classic recently in Scottsbluff.

This was the third year in a row for the team to win gold.

The tournament consisted of nine 8th grade boys teams  and 81 total teams in the tournament from 4th through 8th grade.

The first day of the tournament, pool play, resulted in Sidney defeating Chadron 51-25. The Casper Thunderbirds then defeated Sidney 37-36.
 Tournament play Sunday started with fourth seed. Sidney defeating the fifth seed Bearcats Red 40-36. Sidney then defeated No. 1 seed Bearcats Black 49-45. Fourth seed Sidney then defeated No. 2 seed Casper Thunderbirds 48-33 for the championship title.

4 seed Sidney defeats 2 seed Casper Thunderbirds 48-33 in the championship.

The team was credited with a "pretty impressive bounce back win over the Thunderbirds for the Championship." Sidney had complete control of the second half maintaining a 15-20 point lead.
