BEATRICE, Neb. - Just 40 days into 2026, the Beatrice Board of Education is making plans and adjustments for next school year.

The school board voted unanimously on the contract negotiations for the 2026-27 school year. According to board president Eric Trusty, the new agreement includes an increased base salary of $525, bringing the district's base to $40,000. That maintains a $1,200 insurance deductible as well. The increase comes out to a jump of 3.41% for teachers.

In addition, the agreement allows for 10 days of paid maternity or paternity leave for families employed by the district. If parents are both teachers in the district, it becomes a combination of 10 days.
